TT
Architecture was
recommended to us from several friends who were very happy using TT
Architecture services.
When we contacted TT Architecture we found Tony and his team knowledgeable and easy to talk to as we went through our
requirements for our extension. Tony and his team were up to date with the ACT
building regulations and suggested a lovely enhancement to our build that we both love. We were also guided through the
planning and approval process which was a relief.
Tony and his team came up with a cracking
floor plan
that delivered us a well-integrated 100sqm extension that has exceeded our expectations, is fit for purpose and has
enhanced and improved
the liveability and value of our home.
We would also like to add TT Architecture were able to put us in contact with a
reputable builder (Prostyle Building Group) who gave us a quality, hassle-free
build.

I approached Tony in the first week of February after losing my house in the Canberra bushfires; my brief was a single level dwelling, concrete slab, north facing, colorbond roof with visual interest and vaulted ceilings. As I considered my site could be prone to bushfire in the future, the roof was to have the minimum of re-entrant corners and changes in the roof profile.
To rebuild my house within my budget I was prepared to compromise size in favour of architectural merit, notwithstanding that sentiment I was still able to build a house slightly larger that the pre-existing one.
This was a design/building project where time was also a key factor. I was extremely anxious to rebuild as quickly as possible as I wanted to get life ‘back to normal’ and I thought I would be competing with 500 other people for the services of a builder if I delayed the project. Despite the speed of the design phase I am absolutely delighted with the house; the internal and external visual presence of the building is excellent and I would not choose to make any changes.
People are generally surprised at the low cost of the house but in reality I haven’t elected for any expensive or non-standard fittings, the grace of the house is due to its shape and layout. The natural light within the house always attracts comment as does the sense of space and balanced proportions of the interior space.
Working with Tony was an outstanding experience, Tony developed the plans over a few weeks and during this time it became transparent which building principles I could easily utilise that improved on my previous residence, ie:
solar-passive orientation,
increased cross ventilation
reduce fire risk factors by using metal roofing material
reduce fire risk factors by minimising eaves and avoiding downward eaves in the direction of prevailing winds
reduce exposure to noise to and from the reserve
achieve a private open space that is not visible from public areas
I had been very concerned at the prospect of building a house but felt that in the circumstances I had little choice but to proceed, I am pleased to say that the whole experience was actually quite enjoyable and I wouldn’t hesitate to embark on another design/building project in the future.

It is now about 12 years since we had Tony Trobe of TT Architecture design the renovation to our home in Mugga Way in Red Hill and it is as relevant and lovely now as it was in the first week we moved in. The task was to add a modern extension to an old house and have the two gel. The meetings we had were always productive and pleasant. Changes were always discussed and if we wanted something and Tony felt it was not the right way to go there was always an explanation. Changes were made as the building went up and again done with consultation and good grace. Tony Trobe also designed renovations to our house on in Broulee and all went smoothly.
You hear awful stories of clients fighting with the architect or builder but we have nothing but praise for the builder recommended by Tony and the kitchen and bathroom designer was the same. Helpful, knowledgeable and ready to make changes if we wanted them or good reasons as to why we should not.
Our overall experience with TT architecture is that we would highly recommend TT Architecture.

We chose TT Architecture for our renovation based on their attention to detail with light and space. The brief was to create several new spaces including a Kitchen, living area, bedroom/ensuite on a second level, outdoor entertaining area and pool. The House was built in the 60’s and did not use light or the potential view in any significant way.
We were delighted with the plans that they came up with and from the outset to the completion of the project very few, if any changes were made to the original design.
The process was smooth and both Tony and Erica were excellent to deal with. They were available when needed and were happy to work around our ideas. They listened carefully to what we were trying to achieve and presented us with a warm, light filled and amazing home. The home has a modern look and blends excellently with the existing house. The indoor and outdoor areas are all connected and flow beautifully.
The best part of the process has actually been living in the spaces they created. They are light, homey, functional and suit our family perfectly. They have made our home a wonderful place to be. We would have no hesitation in using TT Architecture for any future projects we are involved with.

When we bought a rundown heritage home at 18 Belmore Gardens, Barton, in 2016 we sought the advice of TT Architecture regarding sympathetic extension and renovation of the property. Tony and his team responded promptly, meeting all our wish list, dealing professionally with the various regulatory issues peculiar to heritage properties, whilst providing excellent advice regarding light access and interior functionality.
The result is a comfortable and energy efficient 1928 home now modernised to provide all the amenity and convenience of a new home but retaining the character and charm that attracted us to the area in the first place.
We are grateful to TT for their constant attention to our requests and concerns as the build progressed would recommend them without reservation to anybody seeking sensible architectural advice at a reasonable price.
Tony, feel free to refer prospective clients to me on 0411888645 if it assists. Trust you are both well.

Our brief to TT Architecture was simple – transform our 1960s suburban box into a spacious, light-infused designer home while preserving our cottage garden, the block’s major attraction. We also had a modest budget. While TT brought our expectations about the cost of renovating a home back to reality, they certainly delivered on the rest.
From the outset, we were very clear that we did not want to turn our small suburban box into a larger suburban box. There were plenty of architects out there willing to do just that, but we chose TT because we wanted something different. We did not want to be confined to a world of right angles but rather we were seeking drama, flair and personality, things we had admired in other TT designed homes.
Of the designs prepared by TT, Tony Trobe’s two storey design, incorporating a dramatic, curved colourbond roof and central tower, fit the bill perfectly. The design reoriented the floor plan towards the north, making the living areas significantly lighter and providing impressive views of the garden (and of the surrounding area from upstairs). It also let us have the best of both worlds by creating the extra indoor space we needed without compromising the outdoor living spaces we valued so highly. The elements we retained of the old house were skilfully incorporated into a cohesive whole.
We were also impressed by the many practical elements of the design which maximised the use of space. The under-stair area was not wasted but cleverly incorporates a laundry on one side and entertainment unit on the other. The inclusion of a small wine room, built around the dimensions of our existing wine fridge, was icing on the cake.
TT’s interior designer did an excellent job helping us choose quality interior finishes to complement the contemporary design of the house. The end result is a dream home that has met – and in some places exceeded – our high expectations.

Tony Trobe was the architect for our development in Deakin. We were happy to allow the firm to be creative with their designs, but they did take the time to understand our needs.
Tony was a pleasure to work with and the end result was house of the year 2007. We would be very happy to recommend the firm and would use it again if required in the future.

We engaged TT Architecture to provide a design concept for a major extension to our family home, after seeing and really liking their style in some existing homes. It was the best decision we made.
From the very beginning, Tony was excellent. He was very approachable and completely understood our brief. We were immediately impressed with the very first concept he came back with, a design layout that we had never thought of. He seemed to understand exactly what we were after and took into consideration our budget and the surrounding landscape. TT Architecture worked with us through to plan approval, finalising a wow factor design that both maximised the potential of the property and ticked all our boxes.
Tony was persistent, professional and genuinely interested in giving us a result that we would be thrilled with. Our home is now an award-winning home and continues to impress visitors and us as it adapts easily with our growing family.
We can highly recommend TT Architecture for your project, not only for an innovative and functional design, but for the personal and professional service that you will receive from the very first phone call right to the end.
Cheers,

“Our experience with TT Architecture has been a great success. Thankfully the TT Team did not design the dream home we had envisaged, but rather walked us through to a greatly enhanced design taking it to a level we could never have hoped to get to on our own. The design journey was an exciting, patient, altruistic and a pleasant experience largely due to the friendly, talented and personable culture at TT. We appreciated the attention to detail and the education along the way in understanding what we could have and not necessarily be limited to our own experiences. I have been in the construction industry for over 25 years and have rarely engaged with a more caring and talented team like TT. They delivered our dream home above expectation.”

It has been our pleasure to have engaged you to design and manage our new home for us in Kiama.
We were impressed by your fresh, individual approach to house design. Of our 2 A4 pages of needs and wishes submitted to you, all were attended to, and the finished design was accepted by us with no alterations.
It was our dream house, subsequently winning Master Builder of the year award.
We unfortunately, due to family matters, were obliged to move on after three years
living our dream.
We have fond memories of Tony, his team, and our house,
