This dual occupancy perched delicately on a Cliff top Malua the on the South coast is a highly successful collaboration between innovative design and “attention to detail” construction.
This duplex is the brainchild of a group of 4 families and combines a successful synthesis of crisp non-standard domestic aesthetics, semi commercial materials with a very informal yet spectacular relationship of inside to out.
The spare minimalism of the architectural detailing and joinery counterpoint the inclusion rich warm natural materials.
There is some distinct innovation in the architectural form expressed by the simple wavelike roof that appears to slide and float over the lower element.
The roofs themselves constitute a very strong architectural feature with the substantial cantilevers coming to an innovatively detailed and elegant thin edge.  This subtle treatment serves to emphasize the tension of the cantilever producing a building of singular, individual and original architectural style.
